Effect of quantum group invariance on trapped Fermi gases

چکیده
We study the properties of a thermodynamic system having the symmetry of a quantum group and interacting with a harmonic potential. We calculate the dependence of the chemical potential, heat capacity and spatial distribution of the gas on the quantum group parameter q and the number of spatial dimensions D. In addition, we consider a fourth-order interaction in the quantum group fields Ψ, and calculate the ground state energy up to first order. ∗E-mail:[email protected]

Trapped Fermi gases
Trapped degenerate atomic gases provide exciting opportunities for the manipulation and quantitative study of quantum statistical effects, such as the strikingly direct observation of Bose-Einstein condensation @1–3#. Although perhaps not as dramatic as the phase transition associated with bosons, the behavior of trapped Fermi gases also merits attention, both as a degenerate quantum system in ...
متن کاملExact few-body results for strongly correlated quantum gases in two dimensions
The study of strongly correlated quantum gases in two dimensions has important ramifications for understanding many intriguing phenomena in solid materials, such as high-Tc superconductivity and the fractional quantum-Hall effect. However, theoretical methods are plagued by the existence of significant quantum fluctuations. Here, we present twoand three-body exact solutions for both fermions an...
متن کاملDisordered Complex Systems Using Cold Gases and Trapped Ions *
icols2 2 We report our research on disordered complex systems using cold gases and trapped ions, and address the possibility of using complex systems for quantum information processing. Two simple paradigmatic models of disordered complex systems are revisited here. The first one corresponds to a short range disordered Ising Hamil-tonian (spin glasses), which can be implemented with a Bose-Ferm...
متن کاملObservation of the Efimovian expansion in scale-invariant Fermi gases.
Scale invariance plays an important role in unitary Fermi gases. Discrete scaling symmetry manifests itself in quantum few-body systems such as the Efimov effect. Here, we report on the theoretical prediction and experimental observation of a distinct type of expansion dynamics for scale-invariant quantum gases. When the frequency of the harmonic trap holding the gas decreases continuously as t...
متن کاملCold quantum gases: coherent quantum phenomena from Bose-Einstein condensation to BCS pairing of fermions
Studies of trapped quantum gases of bosons and of fermions have opened up a new range of manybody problems, having a strong overlap with nuclear and neutron star physics. Topics discussed here include: the Bose yrast problem – how many-particle Bose systems carry extreme amounts of angular momentum; the infrared divergent structure of the transition to Bose condensation in a weakly interacting ...
